Microsoft’s famous racing game franchise finally lands on Mobile with Forza Sreet. The racing game was teased few months ago and just one month ago the availability date was announced and today is the day it comes. I downloaded the game right away to see what’s this all about. Considering the Forza Street name attached with it, it wasn’t a great experience after all. Read on to know more.
Gameplay
The racing game is set in the modern cities with all the hype around street car racings and you are a rookie who registers a tournament to compete against more talented racers. Obviously the opponents’ difficulty level will increase depending on further levels. The story sound cliche right? Because it is. Multiple events are on-going in which you have to participate and earn rewards in accordance to level up and tune your cars.
There’s an energy quota which will replenish as you game more and will refill overtime. This aspect is nothing new at all and have been seen in various other racing games like Asphalt 8.
The graphics are really good and overall environment which the game is set in cities with great lighting effects. The amount of detail given to the cars and overall UI is also good enough. Graphics may also depend on the device which you are playing on and will very well be depend on the processor.
The camera angle plays a huge role in this game. It will automatically change during the events of a race. Some may like this but many won’t that’s what i feel.
Sound effects are also good and legit feels like they have worked on it. The sound tracks after winning the race is the one which I like the most.
As Microsoft claims ‘experience cinematic racing’, it somewhat hold true to that claim. If we just look at the appearance aspect of the racing game then its quiet very well done.
Controls
This is where things start to fall apart. Before going in-depth that how the cars would be controlled before the availability of the game no one would come to think to it as the perspective of a mobile racing game would be to tilt to steer and and tap to accelerate atleast that’s what’s default control settings on most racing games.
This game is completely different in terms of controls. There is no steer to turn rather at times of turns during a race the release of the accelerator does the work and depending on the timing of releasing the accelerator will decide the speed of the car in order to over take the opponent or vice-versa. Basically when the accelerator is released during turn it will act as drift.
Verdict of this Racing Game
Is is this the best mobile racing game out there? Definitely not because it still brings CSR Racing vibes though that game was a drag racing game but nonetheless controls are similar. Drag racing lovers will like this game as well. The thing is the game is not engaging enough which makes the person come back again everyday. I think its missing that factor. The visuals and sounds are very great and if you have a high-end phone you are in store for a treat especially if you prefer constant camera changing angles as this brings about a way to look at the overall environment of the game.
The game might not yet be compatible with some older mid-range Android phones as during my testing it wasn’t supported on Snapdragon 630 with 4Gb RAM. You’ll have to head over to the Play Store to clarify the same.
