Samsung Galaxy A30 was one of the first smartphones in the Galaxy ‘A’ series iteration. The whole new revamped Galaxy A series from Samsung in 2019 marked a new era for Samsung midrange and budget smartphones. Later, Samsung even announced less expensive series, ‘Galaxy M’ which included phones like Galaxy M20 and Galaxy M30.
The best part is, Galaxy A30 has been frequently updated from time to time with bimonthly or quarterly security patch updates. Also, the Galaxy A30 has been put into the 4 year updates programme which means 4 years of security patch updates (the pace of updates will dramatically decrease reaching the final year) and 2 major Android updates. Unfortunately, the Android 11 is the last major OS upgrade for the Galaxy A30.
Nevertheless, Samsung has rolled out the update even earlier then some of 2019’s midrange phones from the likes of Realme and Redmi which is something Galaxy A30 users can be cherished about.
The update dated 17th May 2021 with the version A305FXXU6CUE1 weighs about 2GB so be sure to have a strong data or WiFi connection to enjoy faster download and installation of the Android 11 update for Galaxy A30. The update is currently rolling out in India but sooner more regions and countries will follow.
Being a major update, be sure to backup the most important data to remain on a safe side and even factory reset the phone after the update if possible. This helps to remove all the temporary files and junk to provide a better experience in battery and day to day performance.
Damn, it’s been so long

With the update being close to 2GB in size, it sure packs alot of new improvements and changes such as revamped notification panel with the blurry effect and brand new settings app with UI changes. The most requested and must-have feature, ‘double tap to sleep’ is finally making its way in Samsung phones with OneUI 3 on top of Android 11 and Galaxy A30 is one of them. Irony that Samsung is implementing it after generations in its phones.
Initial Impressions of Android 11 on Galaxy A30
As expected, the phone feels kinda smooth (but its the first boot after the update) and really liking the whole new notification panel and the animations.
The Galaxy A30 is definitely one of those phones which has crippled over the months in terms of performance. Like the UI can sometimes act janky and not respond instantly. With lags and stutters when scrolling through the notifications, or app launch delays, these can hamper of the user’s experience. Hopefully, Android 11 with One UI 3 for Galaxy A30 improves on this and bids a good farewell to the phone considering its the last major update for the phone.
Update: Galaxy A31 is next in line to recieve Android 11/ One UI 3.1 update
Samsung is now rolling out the Android 11 update to the Galaxy A30’s subling, A31 Android 11 update as well just after a few days. The update comes at around 2GB so be sure to take a backup before the installation in order to prevent any data loss risks.
Rest since both the phones are quiet similar, the same changes apply to the Galaxy A31 as well.
If you have any issues with the update, do let me know, and I’ll be able to help.
