Today Xiaomi pulled of the wraps of Mi 9 which it has been teasing recently. Xiaomi is a brand which provides excellent specs at nominal prices and that’s what it has again done with its flagship phones.
The phones comes with all metal & glass design with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 on the front. Xiaomi has finally stepped onto the track of in-display fingerprint scanner and is equipped with the same. Accordingly it has 6.39” FHD+ AMOLED Display. Another track which it has stepped on is the race of triple cameras which are
48MP primary f/1.75 -12MP telephoto f/2.2 -16MP ultra-wide f/2.2 Front -20MP f/2.0 . To keep all the things running is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 which makes it one of the most powerful device on the planet. Scoring a score of 3,80,000+ in AnTuTu is genuinely impressive. It comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB ROM. Sadly no headphone jack or SD card slot is present. It gets juice by a fairly adequate 3300mAh battery. Comes with Android 9 Pie with MIUI on top
A more lower version of the Mi 9 Xiaomi also announced the Mi 9 SE. This is similar in design just with a 5.7″ screen and a less adequate 3070mAh battery. The processor also trickles down to the Snapdragon 712 which makes it the first phone to be equipped with that processor. Rest in specs department is same. Another variant of the Mi 9 is the Mi 9 Explore which is literally same but with a transparent back (which looks amazing though) and an overkill 12 gigs of RAM!
Now, coming to pricing, the Mi 9 starts at around Rs. 31,000 in China which is such an fabulous price even if it comes to India.

The phone’s are very great for their pricing but Xiaomi these days is weird these days. The most common problem is the ads in the UI. Bloated with ads even in system apps is just not acceptable. Although their Custom skin i.e. MIUI is liked by many but the experience is not good as before after this Ad fiasco in MIUI. Secondly, Xiaomi will have to face challenges if it launches the flagship Mi 9 in India because with the likes of OnePlus, Honor, Asus and LG already ruling the Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 40,000 segement it would not be easy to sell out their phone and Mi never catered to that segment in the past too. Accordingly, they will take decisions to launch it or not and at what price keeping the competition in mind. OnePlus is already a trusted brand in that segment. The Mi 9 SE if priced rightly it will sell like hot cakes. At Rs. 25K-30K with triple camera and first of its kind processor i.e Snapdragon 712.
