Sony has been continuously injecting the market with phones and mid-rangers every six months or so. But they are underrated in terms of specs. Sony has announced 3 Xperia phones which consists of 2 mid-range phone and 1 Flagship they are Xperia 10, Xperia 10 Plus and Xperia 1 respectively at the MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Spain. Xperia 1 price will also play a major role in selling it.
Recently Sony has been struggling to sell out their phones because their lack of mass marketing and pricing their mid-range phones quiet higher then the competition. Once Sony was a big player in the market and competed head to head with Samsung and Apple, but now thats nowhere to be seen.
The main highlight of these devices is the tall 21:9 aspect ratio screen which is as same standard as in a cinema screen. These are very different from the current 18:9 or 19:9 aspect ratio screens. Another main highlight of the Xperia 1 is that it is the world’s first 4K OLED screen which produces crisp colours. The Sony Xperia 1 comes with a Dual photo diode technology that is designed to provide fast autofocus even in low light conditions. The handset also has technologies such as RAW noise reduction, Eye AF, and 10fps AF/ AE (autofocus and auto exposure) in the burst mode. There is an Optical SteadyShot technology on top of a hybrid stabilisation system that uses a unique algorithm to resist shakes and jerks while capturing objects on the move. It also comes with a dedicated camera shutter button. It has the as expected Snapdragon 855 to keep the things running. The battery is 3300mAh which on paper doesn’t do enough justice to the massive 6.5″ 4K HDR display.
Xperia 10 & Xperia 10 Plus
These are the mid-range offereings from Sony this year with wid-range processors. They have the same 21:9 aspect ratio as the Xperia 1. The 10 Plus has bigger battery, bigger display, better processor then the Xperia 10. Both phones have 3.5mm headphone jack. Xperia 10 & Xperia 10 Plus have Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 636 respectively. Xperia 10 is 2870mAh battery while the Xperia 10 Plus has 3000mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia 10 comes with one 13-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/2.0 aperture, and another 5-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Camera features include 21:9 video capturing, bokeh effect, HDR, hybrid autofocus, 5X digital zoom, 4K video recording, 120fps slow-motion movie recording, and more. Up front, there is an 8-megapixel with an f/2.0 aperture and display flash support.
The Sony Xperia 10 Plus also sports a dual rear camera setup but with one 12-megapixel wide-angle sensor with an f/1.75 aperture, and another 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 aperture. Camera features include 21:9 video capturing, bokeh effect, HDR, hybrid autofocus, 5X digital zoom, 2x optical zoom, 4K video recording, 120fps slow-motion recording, and more. Up front, the Sony Xperia 10 Plus sports the same 8-megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture and display flash support.

The Gadgets Hub’s opinion/ take on this :-
The success of the flagship, Xperia 1 clearly depends on the Pricing and availability. Though it is trying to be unique among notches and punch hole camera designed phones but everyone not might be comfortable with huge phone size and screen size. The great thing about Sony is swift updates. Sony is one the fastest OEM to give fast android updates that is because their skin is not very bloated and is close to Stock android. Speaking of software the Xperia comes with Android 9 Pie out of the box. It looks like a great phone overall with all the latest tech in it. But pricing and marketing should be on point.
The Xperia 10 and 10 Plus seem like a joke for the price. Snapdragon 630 in Rs. 24,000 not acceptable at all. Its almost a year and a half chipset. Sony is just charging for the build quality and the Brand name. This would be in instant flop even if it comes to India at a price of Rs. 20,000. Let alone the 10 Plus, it is in the same situation as its sibling, highly priced. Xperia 1 price is also expected to be high.
Update -28 June 2019: Xperia 1 price
The Xperia 1 price is set for $950 which converts to about Rs. 65,000. But as previous records this Sony flagship will eventually cross Rs. 70,000 when it officially launches in India. The whole Galaxy S10 series is priced below Rs. 70,000 it offers more features then the Xperia 1.
