In turns of recent events, the famous and highly innovative brand LG, has just shut down its smartphone division due to the lingering heavy losses over the year. This was likely coming as from the past couple of months LG had conveyed they will do something to escape from this struggle. Well, that struggle was ultimately to shut its door for its phone business.
Now, as there won’t be anymore LG smartphones ever again in the future (if somehow its revived), this leaves the market with a couple of LG high-end phones like LG V60, LG Velvet, LG Wing and the Flipkart sales champ – LG G8x in India.
LG has went on and made official that some of its smartphones will receive 3 major Android updates following its smartphone business shutdown. The LG Wing is one of them. Looks like a bit of a credit to its existing customers of LG smartphones.
LG Wing on Sale
LG has once again done a G8x with the Wing by slashing down the price of LG Wing from ₹70,000 to ₹30,000. The main highlight as you might know, is the swiveling display – a large main display and another on the bottom a 4″ OLED display. For that reason alone one should buy this phone. It’ll definitely attract some eyeballs because of its such distinctive looks.
Apart from looks, it is a great utility machine and you are open to end number options of using it. Some of them are – chatting while watching video on the huge main screen. Another can be to handle it has a great gimbal-like device. The last but not the least, using maps and having opened a music app like Spotify on the secondary display.
So yeah, for this nifty trick one can purchase the LG Wing. But there are surely some shortcomings to be kept in mind as to not regret later in the long run.
These shortcoming are:-
- Pretty small battery – The last time phones used to launch with such small batteries was in 2018 or 2019. The 4000mAh is okayish but definitely not up to the mark considering today’s specifications which others offer. The stretch goes beyond when the phone has to power two displays simultaneously. Imagine if the Wing had a high refresh rate display!
- Mediocre processor – LG Wing is powered by last year’s “The mid-range SoC with 5G” which certainly isn’t justified for this price at Rs. 30,000. But okay maybe if you are not into much performance oriented tasks or don’t even care about the SoC on your next phone. It will get the job done just fine nut probably not for tech enthusiasts. Ironically, this was THE phone for tech enthusiasts!
Where to buy?
The LG Wing is selling on Flipkart exclusively at the price of ₹30,000 during sale from April 13 – April 15. This one is surely to go “out of stock” pretty quick as soon as the sale starts. So be sure to grab it when the sale starts.
But my guess is that, it will be coming in stock from time to time though may not be at that price as LG’s main goal here is to clear the remaining inventory.
