Realme has recently been launching a plethora of devices for the past couple of months (well same goes for Redmi) especially in the Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 15,000 price bracket. Guess what? Most of them are so damn similar! Lets see the phones from last 6 months or so in this range – Realme C3, Realme 6, Realme 6i, Narzo 10, Narzo 10A and today it announced the Realme C12 and Realme C15. The Narzo and 6 series is different from the C series but specifically within the C series the phones are so similar. Redmi has launched a couple

The Realme C3 was the only C series phone which had a different and ironically better processor then the ones launched in the past couple of weeks. It has Mediatek’s Helio G70 meanwhile Realme C11, C12, C15 are all equipped by the inferior Helio G35.

There are some various factors why the Realme C15 isn’t fir for Rs. 9,999 –

HD only Display

Phones launched recent as last year had Full HD displays like Redmi Note 7s, Redmi Note 8 (which both have been increased prices thanks to increase in dollar exachange rate and GST hikes) which had excellent build qualities like glass on back. The Redmi 9 Prime retains the Full HD display but sacrifices in the build quality thus having only a full plastic body. HD displays has been the case with Realme devices since Realme 3 and the same trait has been carried on with the Realme C15. It has certainly never put a Full HD display under the Rs. 9,999 segment (except Realme 1) and that’s just about it. Batteries are large enough for continuous consumption on Full HD displays.

Inferior performance

The Realme C15 packs the Mediatek Helio G35 which is the same used in C11 which was announced a couple of weeks back! Let’s get this straight the Helio G35 is a rebranded version of Helio P35 which was just an overclocked version of the Helio P22. Sounds confusing right? The Helio P22 is the same SoC which Techno and Infinix have been using in their phones. Now if we compare it with Realme C3 let alone Redmi 9 Prime (Helio G80 btw), that phone had a Helio G70 and was bragged as a PUBG Mobile centric phone. It’s just simple chronology more the number, better the performance atleast here in the case of Mediatek processors.

Micro-USB in 2020

This is a no brainer that the Redmi 9 Prime excels in this department. The USB Type-C has now been living for long enough that 8 out of 10 phones have USB Type-C phones and now tables have turned completely that once Micro-USB was so popular that you could use anyone’s charger to juice up your phone for a while. Now that’s completely different also Type-C has a convenience of inserting it any way around. Once again Realme has never let go of the Micro USB port since the Realme 1 under this price point.

Redmi offers more Storage

Both the Realme C15 and Redmi 9 Prime start at Rs. 9,999 and their storage configurations are below:-

  • Realme C15 (3GB RAM + 32GB ROM) – Rs. 9,999
  • Redmi 9 Prime (4GB RAM + 64GB ROM) – Rs. 9,999

Inspite being at the same price, Redmi 9 Prime offers more value in almost every aspect. The Realme C15 goes ahead with the massive 6000mAh battery vs 5000mAh battery on the Redmi 9 Prime and would certainly have better battery endurance due to a low res screen.

Realme C15 vs Redmi 9 Prime comparison

The Redmi 9 Prime takes this one away clearly from Realme. Realme needs to inspect the improvements it should make in it’s phones before launching one rather then bombarding the market with phones which have very less significant improvements from the previous iterations.
