Realme a sub-brand of Oppo then, now considered as an independent brand, has been disrupting the Indian smartphone industry since 2018. It entered the Indian market by launching the Realme 1 which at that time had an Oppo branding. Later after a couple of months it was announced that Realme would operate as an separate entity.

In recent times their pace of launching smartphones and products has increased to a large extent, making the audience confused and nervous at the same time by launching phones back to back with very less to no gaps in between. Especially in 2020 Realme has launched so many phones. Now there are several reasons why Realme might be doing so. In 2020 alone Realme has launched so many smartphones in the Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 15,000 like the Narzo 20, Realme 6i, Realme 6, Realme 6 Pro, Narzo 20, Narzo 20 Pro and even Realme 7 Pro and Realme 7 which we had tested and reviewed recently. Not gonna lie, it’s definitely among the nominees for the best midrange smartphone 2020.

REASONS:

1. To Remain in Competition

The very first and foremost reason is that Realme doesn’t want someone to overtake them in terms of  price/spec ratio. Whenever any brand launches it’s smartphone, Realme is ready with their ones  by offering better specifications at a reasonable price so that they give no one a chance to go further.

2. To Get Retained in People’s Minds

Realme is introducing plethora of phones which results in congested smartphone segment under Rs. 20,000 to create a slight monopoly. Let me clarify it, if you simply search smartphones on Flipkart the major phones you’ll find are of Realme. At every Rs. 500 price gap you’ll find a Realme phone especially with recent launches. This is a strategy of the brand to make themselves look more promising as if they are very old/reputable. Now it seems like Realme new phone launch is always around the corner.

3. Give Competitors an Edge

Narzo series is a brand new phone series launched by Realme during Q2 of 2020 where the debut phones being Narzo 10 and Narzo 10A. Just after 4 months of the launch of Narzo 10 series, Realme announced Narzo 20 series in September. This included Narzo 20A, Narzo 20 and Narzo 20 Pro. This is similar to Xiaomi’s strategy which they have been building upon over the past couple of years.

Realme Is trying  to show as if Narzo is a new sub-brand of Realme, but the story is a bit different. Let me come straight to the point, Realme was established with a motto to compete with Xiaomi that’s it. This is the main motto of Realme and why it was launched as a brand in the first place itself. As like Poco, Realme has brought up Narzo to compete with Poco which similarly a sub-brand to Xiaomi. So if you see all they are going for is to have an edge over Xiaomi. Realme might have an upper hand over Xiaomi, that it relies tech from Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus and introduces it first to bear the title of world’s first/India’s first, to attract the attention of people. Realme UI is a perfect example of this. But Mi is no slouch either, it invests heavily on its R&D.

If we go further in-depth, it can be seen that Realme is launching every product that Xiaomi launches be it TVs, powerbanks, smart live cameras, fitness bands, electronic toothbrush and now the brand is even looking to enter laptops and trimmers segment, like Mi. Realme wants to become a so called “tech lifestyle” brand which it considers can be achieved by launching devices and appliances in every possible segment and more possibly what Xiaomi launches. It is obvious and pretty evident that the rivalries between Realme and Xiaomi has a long way to go and therefore Realme strives to pushes it limits to overtake Xiaomi and might become the No.1 selling smartphone brand of India. To achieve that, Realme launching new phone is not much of a surprise.
