Samsung has been recently announcing lot of phones into the market in the Galaxy A & M series and Samsung Galaxy M30s is among the one which is in the pipeline. Samsung Galaxy M series has been a major hit in the market especially the Galaxy M20 and M30 devices. The Galaxy M series is online exclusive series from Samsung therefore it can provide value smartphones which it couldn’t do before. Though they may not be the best in the segment but for the fans and enthusiast its good deal for them. The Galaxy M30s would be the next best smartphone from Samsung in the segment and there are couple of reasons for that. The Galaxy M30 has been leaked quiet much already but some official specs have also been confirmed by the brand itself.

What we know so far about Galaxy M30s

As for any phone the Samsung Galaxy M30s is not spare by the waves of leaks. The first instance of this device that people came to know or atleast tech geeks was when rumours of triple camera device from Galaxy M series were floating around. Eventually, this is true. Galaxy M30s is supposed to have a triple camera setup which has one normal RGB sensor that is a 48MP one, an ultra wide-angle camera and finally a telephoto lens. This has been even confirmed in an official video by the YouTuber Technical Guruji in which he showed glimpse of the device. The 48MP sensor will be the Sony IMX486 or Samsung’s own in-house G1 sensor is unkown. Most probably it’ll be own sensor to keep the costs low.

The strange aspect of back of the phone is the weirdly made camera module. When there are 3 cameras then why manipulate the same space besides the other 3 cameras and leave it empty. That’s just a weird take and only Samsung knows why it is like that. Our guess is to make it unqiue? maybe. The back panel also houses the fingerprint sensor which Samsung is not going to implement in-display fingerprint sensor on M series any time soon.

The phone will have an AMOLED display which is just cherry on top. An AMOLED panel of & from Samsung is always welcomed. It has been officially confirmed on Samsung’s site and you can check it out for the same. Other massive feature of the Galaxy M30s is the massive battery – 6000mAh! Like that’s just tons and tons of media playback. It will last like for 3 days for the average user. With AMOLED panel, this battery will last even longer. It’s definitely the first time in this segment or infact in any segment. The ROG Phone 2 also houses a 6000mAh battery but that is expected as it is a high end device and most importantly a gaming phone. Having a 6000mAh battery in the Rs. 14,000 – 20,000 segment is mind blowing.

The screen size is not mentioned on the Samsung site what so ever but then what are leakers for? Leakster Sudhanshu Ambhore contributed towards the screen size and mentions it as 6.4 inch Full HD AMOLED display with an infinity-U notch for the first time in a Galay M series phone.

Lastly, the phone will have a headphone jack. Yes after removing from Galaxy Note 10 series, Samsung will provide it in its mid-range phones. What an irony. Galaxy M30s will also have USB Type-C which is now a standard for Samsung in 2019 and that’s very appreciable. The storage variants would be 64GB & 128GB ROM as suggested by the leaks and RAM will be of DDR4X type.

Now, the most important aspect of the phone is the SoC in it. Battery, camera, display all depend upon the processor. Samsumg will be going with its own Exynos chip again but it’ll be improved by the previous Exynos 9604. The SoC in Galaxy M30s is majorly going to be one of the Exynos processor i.e Exynos 9610 or Exynos 9611. The former is used in Galaxy A50 and the latter is a completely brand new chip though just minor improvements in CPU then the Exynos 9610. Either of the 2 SoC used in the Galaxy M30s will be adequate. Do note that Samsung is a brand which cut costs and same has been done here. Meaning the Exynos 9610/9611 won’t be the best in class like in Redmi Note 7 Pro, Xiaomi introduced a completely brand new SoC in its phone i.e. Snapdragon 675 but that’s not the case here. As far as the UI is considered there’s nothing new here, One UI which is custom skin on Samsung on top of Android 9 Pie. This will get Android 10 though the is quiet far away as of now.

The build quality would has usual 2019 Samsung mid-ranger that is poly carbonate with glossy finish on the back which Samsung likes to call it ‘glastic’.

How does it stand against others in the market in terms of performance?

If looking at the current marker scenario there are tons and tons of phones with the Snapdragon 700 series processors. Either it is Snapdrago 710 or 712. To name a few, Realme X, Realme 5 Pro, Vivo Z1 Pro, Vivo Z1x and the newly announced Realme XT. The Exynos 9610 has an Antutu score of average of 1,50,000 and Snapdragon 712 has an average score of 1,70,000. The Exynos one is behind in terms of GPU but not much a deal breaker. Do note that we are not judging the performance by the mere Antutu scores but it just gives an idea. So if the Galaxy M30s tends to have the latest Exynos 9611 it’ll be slightly better then 9610.

The official release is set for 18th September but to be fair only price is not known at this point which will be revealed soon.

The Gadgets Hub’s Opinion/Take on this:-

The Galaxy M30s can be considered as the best mid-range smartphone offered from Samsung. It has everything which other brands are providing at the same price and also the Samsung branding is a cherry on top. There are people who prefer non-Chinese brands so this could be the perfect deal for them. With this phone launched, Samsung Galaxy M series will be more strong altogether and is definitely improvement over previous gen Samsung Galaxy M30. It surely has what it takes to disrupt the market if priced on point.
